Advanced Solid-Liquid Separation for Sludge-Free STPs
Aquatron - the Swedish technology that instantly separates solids from flushing water and makes sewage treatment sludge-free, odour-free and energy-efficient.
Trusted by 200+ clients in India and 15,000+ worldwide

Introduction
Aquatron technology is built on a simple but powerful principle: instant separation of solids and liquids at the source.
This unique approach eliminates sludge formation and transforms the way sewage treatment systems are designed, operated, and maintained.
The result of using Aquatron: compact, energy-efficient, and low-maintenance STP solutions designed to meet NGT/CPCB discharge standards.
Aquatron systems can be seamlessly integrated into new STP installations and retrofit projects.
They work alongside conventional treatment stages while significantly improving overall system efficiency.
Why This Matters
Conventional STPs mix solids and liquids, leading to:
-
Sludge generation
-
High tank volumes
-
Increased aeration and pumping requirements
-
Complex operation and maintenance
Aquatron solves this at the source.
By separating solids immediately, the system avoids the root cause of most STP challenges.

Core Principle
Instant Solid-Liquid Separation
The Aquatron separator uses three natural forces:
-
Momentum of flushing water
-
Centrifugal force
-
Gravity
This ensures:
-
Reliable separation without moving parts
-
Consistent performance
-
No dependency on complex mechanical systems
How the Process Works
Step 1: Black Water Line
The black water line from up to 25 toilets can be connected to a single Aquatron unit. The number of units can be scaled up to any number of WCs.
Step 2: Separation
Wastewater enters the separator where:
-
Liquids are immediately separated
-
Solids are diverted into a bio-chamber
Step 3: Solid Treatment (Bio-Chamber)
-
Solids (faecal matter, WC paper, etc.) are collected in a dry bio-chamber
-
Naturally occurring bacteria break down up to 95% of the material
-
Solids are converted into:
-
Water vapour
-
Carbon dioxide
-
Final output:
-
Small quantity of dry, odourless, hygienic compost
-
Minimal need for handling or disposal
Step 4: Liquid Treatment
-
Separated liquids flow to STP tanks
-
Can be combined with grey water
-
Treated using standard processes:
-
Aeration / ozonation
-
Filtration
-
Disinfection
-
Final output: treated water suitable for reuse or safe discharge.

Aquatron vs Conventional STPs
Why Aquatron is Different
Conventional STP technologies such as MBBR and SBR treat sewage as a mixed stream of solids and liquids. This leads to continuous sludge generation, higher energy consumption, and increased operational complexity.
Aquatron technology takes a fundamentally different approach by separating solids and liquids at the source. This eliminates sludge formation and significantly reduces the need for aeration, pumping, and manual intervention.
The result is a system that is:
-
More energy-efficient
-
Easier to operate
-
Less dependent on skilled manpower
-
More compact and cost-effective over its lifecycle
By addressing the root cause of sludge formation, Aquatron systems offer a more efficient and sustainable alternative to conventional STP technologies.
